Greetings from historic Mesilla, New Mexico! According to Wikipedia, Mesilla was the capital of the Confederate Territory of Arizona during the Civil War. Now it is home to tourist shops, mostly, it seems – if anybody wants any Southwestern tchotchkes, let me know!

Finally managed to stop in Lexington, NC, the barbeque capital of the world, after several trips in which I didn't have the time to stop and eat the capital of barbeques...and it was worth it. After a sort of meandering drive through sleepy-yet-quaint Lexington, NC (sort of looks like Beacon, NY, actually, that "authentic rural American town" brand) ended up at the Barbeque Center:
